"A Bugz Christmas" musical was a HUGE success! Thank you to all of your help in preparing your child for their performance. They did an amazing job and I'm so proud of them! Not to mention their costumes were adorable.

Today the students went to the Science Lab to learn about sound. They guessed the objects that made sounds in eggs, discovered vibrations with a tuning fork, and made their own personal kazoo. My mom came in to volunteer in the Science Lab and brought them donuts. They enjoyed the donuts out at recess! 😊

What is your child learning this week?

Math: We will be finishing up with missing addends/subtrahend and the post-test will be taken on Wednesday. After the test, we will be starting balancing equations.

Science/Social Studies: In Social Studies, we have moved on to Thomas Jefferson! This Friday, we will visit the Science Lab and learn about sound.

Language Arts/Daily 5/Writing: The phonics focus for the week is digraphs th and wh. In Language Arts, we will be focusing on author's purpose, or the reasons that author's write their books (to persuade, to inform, or to entertain = PIE). We will also be revisiting nouns, verbs, and adjectives. For writing, we are continuing with informational writing or writing to inform our readers on a topic using facts. We are continuing to do Daily 5 rotations.

Today my mom came to visit the class! They listened to her read a Thanksgiving book, made Thanksgiving Story bracelets, and enjoyed a cupcake. They loved it.

The Benjamin Franklin projects turned out GREAT! The students were so proud to share them with their classmates. Thank you for helping with this. Tomorrow we will have a "Benjamin Franklin Museum" where all the first grade classes will rotate to the other classes and look at everyone's projects.
