What is your child learning this week?

Math: We are finishing up with adding 3 numbers and starting time. We will be focusing on time on the hour and half hour.

Language Arts/Daily 5/Writing: The phonics focus this week is variant vowel ar. For writing, we are continuing practicing with opinion writing. For Language Arts, we are comparing and contrasting characters and experiences in stories in reading groups. We are continuing to do Daily 5 rotations.

Science/Social Studies: We are wrapping up landforms this week, and starting with Lewis and Clark! We are going to the Learning Commons twice this week for Lewis and Clark lessons and activities.

**I started a new behavior system called Class Dojo on Thursday. This holds your child accountable for their actions by having them come up to the active board and give themselves a dojo point or take a dojo point away. There are various categories for both positive and negative behaviors. I am not having them move clips anymore; however, the dojo points received/lost during the day determines what color they will record in their agenda at the end of the day. I am hoping that this helps with some of the behavior issues I have been seeing in class lately. 😮 I sent home a note about it with a personalized code so that you can join it and keep updated on your child's behavior throughout the day. Let me know if you have any questions or if you have trouble joining!

Important Dates:
- February 1: FBI Breakfast (7:00-7:45 am)

My mom came and brought cupcakes to celebrate and the kids loved it! They sang happy birthday to me and made me feel loved! 😀

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope everyone had a wonderful Winter Break! I also hope your children are well rested and ready to take on the rest of the year! I can't believe it's already halfway over. 😮

Exciting news for me that I'd like to share... Over the break, I was lucky enough to finally see a sloth in real life! Your child (as well as you, I'm sure) have heard about my obsession with sloths so it is highly likely that they will share the details with you after I tell them all about it! 😂

Anyways, enough about me!
