What is your child learning this week?

Math: We are continuing adding and subtracting multiples of 10. We have also started our gumball subtraction math facts tests.

Phonics: The phonics focus this week is variant vowel ar.
Spelling words: park, smart, card, spark, charm, yard, this, use, were, any

ELA/Daily 5:  For ELA, we are determining who is telling as story. In Daily 5, we are continuing with Daily 5 rotations (Read to Self, Read to Someone, Word Work, Work on Writing, and Listen to Reading).

Writing: We will be continuing opinion writing.

Science/Social Studies: For Social Studies, we are continuing Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea. We will be going to the Learning Commons for lessons. For Science, we will be having STEM challenge this week and the students will be building a bird's nest.

Important Dates:
- January 30: STEM night! 6-8 pm
- January 31: FBI breakfast 7:00-7:45 pm

ELA/Daily 5:  For ELA, we are determining who is telling as story. In Daily 5, we are continuing with Daily 5 rotations (Read to Self, Read to Someone, Word Work, Work on Writing, and Listen to Reading).

Writing: We will be continuing opinion writing.

Science/Social Studies: For Social Studies, we are continuing Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea. We are going to Science Lab to learn about animals and how they move.

- Penny Wars start go until January 24. Have your child bring in some pennies to put in our bucket.The winning grade earns a popsicle party!

Important Dates:
- January 21: Science Fair projects due
- January 24: Father/Daughter dance!

Phonics: The phonics focus this week is long i digraphs
Spelling words: pie, fine, sigh, tie, high, might, good, know, line, more

ELA/Daily 5:   In Daily 5, we are continuing with Daily 5 rotations (Read to Self, Read to Someone, Word Work, Work on Writing, and Listen to Reading).

Writing: We will be starting opinion writing.

Science/Social Studies: For Social Studies, we are continuing Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea.
