What is your child learning this week?

Math: We are learning about true and false equations.

Language Arts/Daily 5/Writing: There will be no phonics this week. In Language Arts, we will be doing various holiday activities. For writing, we are finishing up our informational writing piece on reindeer. We are continuing to do Daily 5 rotations.

*Our Holiday Party is on Friday, December 21. Our room mom Mandy Davis will be in charge of getting things prepared and she has kindly asked for help providing items for the party. Yesterday, we had a great time in the Science Lab experimenting with sound!

Today was Grinch Day! The students did lots of Grinch activities including solving Grinch word problems and drawing the Grinch 😊

Math: We are finishing up with balancing equations, and we will move on to true/false equations on Thursday.

Science/Social Studies: In Social Studies, we are finishing Thomas Jefferson. In Science, we will be going to the Science Lab on Thursday to continue learning about sound.

December 10: Holiday T-Shirt day. Wear your favorite holiday shirt!
December 14: Grinch day. Wear green or a Grinch shirt!
December 20: Holiday PJ's day. Wear your favorite pajamas!
December 21: Holiday Accessory day. Wear a holiday headband, tie, socks, necklace, etc!

**A note was sent home regarding a class book exchange coming up on Thursday, December 20. Please send in a gender neutral book with your child that costs between $5 & $7. We will be playing a game to pass around the books the day. 😊

Today the students decorated their own ornaments for our classroom tree. Mrs. Lorenz, another first grade teacher, kindly gave me a sloth ornament and I made it my tree topper. If your child hasn't already told you yet... I LOVE sloths!!!

For writing, we are continuing with informational writing or writing to inform our readers on a topic using facts. We are continuing to do Daily 5 rotations.
