I hope everyone had a great weekend!

What is your child learning this week?

Math: We will be learning about fact families or related math facts.  On Halloween, we will do a fun graphing activity with treats! We are also continuing to work on solving addition and subtraction word problems using various strategies.

Science/Social Studies: In Social Studies, we are learning about Benjamin Franklin!

Language Arts/Daily 5/Writing: The phonics focus for the week is open end vowels. In Language Arts, we will be talking about syllables.  For writing, we are starting informational writing or writing to inform our readers on a topic using facts. This week we will practice this by learning about bats and writing about them. We are continuing to do Daily 5 rotations.

*First grade will be having a music performance called "A Bugz Christmas" on November 29th. I have sent home information regarding what your child should wear if they choose to participate in the musical. If your child has been given a solo part, they brought home their lines. Please practice these so they can be prepared for the performance!
