I hope everyone had a relaxing and FUN Fall break! 😄

What is your child learning this week?

Math: The students took their post-test for counting to 120 and we are starting our focus on measurement. Students will be learning how to put objects in order from shortest to tallest and shortest to longest. They will also be measuring objects using different nonstandard units of measurement such as paper clips and unifix cubes. Feel free to practice this with items at home 😊

ELA/Daily 5/Phonics/Writing: The phonics focus for this week is three letter blends. In language arts, we are focusing on retelling using wordless stories. You can practice this with your child after reading at night by asking them to retell the story as well as tell you the characters and setting of the story. For writing, the students are working on a narrative writing piece about something they did during Fall break. We are working on adding details and using transition words.

Science/Social Studies: We are starting to focus on Economics. We will be discussing goods and services, producers, and consumers. We will also be talking about scarcity later in the week.

*I sent home a conference form today with your assigned conference sheet. Please return the bottom slip ASAP to let me know if this time will work for you or not. Conference week is October 15-19.

*Just letting everyone know that I will be absent on Tuesday and Wednesday to participate in Leader in Me training at another school. If your child comes home and tells you that I'm not at school, this is where I'll be. I don't want you all thinking I decided to just not show up to school those days or I took another vacation 😂
