What is your child learning this week?
Math: We will be starting with missing subtrahends (missing addends with subtraction). We will focus on using different strategies to help solve the equations such as number line, ten frames, and counters.
Science/Social Studies: In Social Studies, we are wrapping up learning about Benjamin Franklin this week. I can't wait to see their projects! Remember the projects are due on Thursday, November 15th.
Language Arts/Daily 5/Writing: The phonics focus for the week is digraphs sh and ch. In Language Arts, we will be finishing up nonfiction text features (table of contents, heading, bold words, captions, labels, index, glossary, etc.). We will also be practicing retelling and identifying main idea/details. For writing, we are continuing with informational writing or writing to inform our readers on a topic using facts. This week they will be writing an informational writing piece on Benjamin Franklin. We are continuing to do Daily 5 rotations. This week the students are choosing what they want to do.
Today in math we worked on solving missing subtrahends equations with number lines.
We went to the Learning Commons to work on creating their own wordless stories!
