I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend!

What is your child learning this week?

Math: We will be finishing up place value and taking the place value test on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we will take a pre-test and start practicing how to count to 120. We will also start solving word problems within 10.

Science/Social Studies: We are finishing up Me on the Map unit and having the test on Tuesday. Then we will be starting continents and oceans. I will be sending home a study guide and an optional practice page for extra practice at home. There is a lot of information and it can sometimes be overwhelming for the students, so please try to practice these with your child at home.

Language Arts/Daily 5/Writing: The phonics focus for the week is final consonant clusters. In Language Arts, we will be talking about nonfiction and fiction. The students will be learning about the characteristics of nonfiction and fiction books. I will be sending home a page with a list of questions for nonfiction and fiction books that I encourage you to ask your children during reading time at night. In Daily 5, we are adding Work on Writing to our rotations. We will be working on writing "Squiggle Stories" this week. Make sure to ask your child about their squiggle story 😊
